Faren Dancer, 2009 President installs 2010 President, Dalinda Bangert December 2009
With the inauguration of President Barack Obama we are entering a new future for America and I hope for the American Building Industry. As 22010 President of the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association, I welcome you to the Santa Fe Home Builders web-site. The Building Industry is the Heart and Hearth of America. The hard working men and women of the Association are proud of the outstanding homes which have created the unique neighborhoods of Santa Fe. We are looking forward to joining with President Obama to create green, energy efficient and sustainable communities and to help retrofit exiting homes with energy saving and sustainable new technologies. We are working hand-in-hand with the City of Santa Fe and other community leaders to further these goals. The Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association and I,thank you for your continuing support of our member firms in your neighborhoods of Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Taos, Angel Fire and the surrounding area.
We hope you will appreciate the contributions made by all the men and women who have created the homes and neighborhoods of Santa Fe and the surrounding area. It is not only the builder and architect who make it happen but also the stone mason, the electrician, the landscape artist and even the banker, the finance manager and more! Gross receipts from home-building fund parks, roads, highways, water and sewer projects [the infra-structure of communities]. The millions of dollars paid in wages and benefits are spent on goods and services in the local economy.
Our members partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a “Builder Blitz’ home in Oshara Village as well as constructiong another Habitat home using green building technologies on a lot provided by the City of Santa Fe, Gomez & Paseo de Peralta. The Gomez Green Home has been used as a training site to encourage local companies to learn ‘green’ building science. Ticket sales from the Haciendas-“A Parade of Homes” and the many generous donations of the Association and its members have contributed thousands of dollars to local charitable organizations: Habitat for Humanity, High School Athletic Teams, Building Trades Program in the Santa Fe High Schools and Colleges, Health and Human Services Week, Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Human Society to name a few.
The members of the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association adhere to the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Home Builders:
• Home ownership can and should be within reach of every American family.
• American homes should be built under the free American enterprise system.
• American homes should be well-designed, well-constructed and well-located in attractive communities, with education, recreational, religious and shopping facilities accessible to all.
We believe that shelter, one of the most basic of human needs, should be within the reach of all families who are willing to make home ownership a priority. The Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association is committed to affordable, safe, eco-friendly, quality housing for all Santa Feans. To that end, we are a pro-active voice at all levels of government to address political, social, economic, and environmental issues, and to promote strong and reasonable building codes, and building by licensed contractors and a quality of life to be proud of.
Santa Fe leads the country in innovative, creative construction and have been in the forefront of sustainable and green building. Professionals in design and construction, ‘green-building’ and architecture, and visitors from around the world are drawn to the ‘Santa Fe Style’ experience and dream of capturing the cutting edge, endemic design and use of materials which has made Santa Fe building and remodeling famous.
